Ultimate Control, Ultimate Harmony 1100

Want to replace all your different remote controls with just one controller? Want to get a remote control that is powerful yet looks cool and modern to complement your sophisticated living room? Then check out the ultimate all new universal remote control from Logitech--- the Harmony 1100.

A very easy to hold palm sized, rectangular shape and a bright 3.5-inch colour screen means you’ll have no trouble using this remote in the dark. Now in a seriously luxurious looking black, this remote replaces up to 15 remotes so you can get rid of the mess of old remotes on your couch or coffee table. Did I mention it comes with a recharging dock so you no longer have to replace batteries!

What’s new?

Apart from the stunning black piano finish there are new customizable icons and controls that allow you to choose what commands you want to see on screen and when you want to see them. Even allowing you to choose the icons you want to use for certain commands.

Using the Harmony 1100

Like previous Harmony’s you’ll want a home computer or laptop with an internet connection to really take advantage of the Harmony’s simplicity. Pop in the disc that comes in the box and install the software on your computer or laptop then follow the onscreen instructions. You’ll be prompted to select the different devices you have by make and model and download them to the Harmony 1100. If the make or model is not available the Harmony 1100 can directly copy the remotes functionality, all you need to do is follow the instructions. After you’ve loaded all your devices you’re finished, you no longer need the other remotes. All my old remotes have been relegated to the bottom drawer of my tv cabinet while the gorgeous Harmony 1100 with it’s equally gorgeous recharging dock takes its place next to my LCD tv.

Next thing you’ll want to do is start customizing the functions, like setting an icon for the function that turns the tv on, changes to the right channel, turns the blu-ray player on, and dims the lights. Yes you can do all that from just one touch of the screen. My partner who I’ve had to remind many times which remote control is for what can now push one button on one remote to get all that going. Now all he has to do is pop his favourite movie in.

The Harmony 1100 does get a little complicated when customizing the icons, but its advanced performance and stability is a marked improvement over its predecessor, the Harmony 1000. This really is the ultimate remote to have.
