Apple has confirmed their revolutionary iPad is hitting our Aussie shores in late May after stock delays to their original April launch date. You may have seen the iPad already being offered by some online resellers, but be aware that these will most likely be US stock (they received theirs in April) and may not be covered by Australian Warranty unless the reseller provides their own warranty.
As keen as everyone is to get their hands on this product it is best to wait for Australian stock to arrive to secure the best product at the hottest price as online and local retails will battle it out for the best price.

Local networks such as Vodafone, Optus and Telstra may be providing special data plans to coincide with the launch of the 3G + WiFi versions so it's definitely worth waiting to see what deals will be offered first.
To help with the wait Wireless 1 has compiled the top 5 positives and negatives.
Positives
- This is a really thin device and will definitely be a pleasure to carry around. It will be one of the lightest form factors on the market.
- iPad is powered by a customised processor called A4 running at 1GHz. This is sure to have incredible battery life and low power consumption. How incredible is that battery life you ask? 10 hours of video and 30 hours of standby.
- It has a large 9.7" display with multi-touch screen and we all know Apple's got the whole touch-interface and gestures near perfect. People who've had hands-on previews can't stop talking about how responsive it is.
- It will run most of the 150,000+ applications which are already available from the Apple store and you can expect many more.
- All the functionality it is designed for: reading digital newspapers, ebooks, browsing the web, viewing photos, listening to music, watching movies, playing games, and the list goes on. The iPad is already surpassing initial expectations. This product not only works, it works beautifully!
Negatives
- The iPad is basically a gigantic iPod Touch.
- No keyboard, no webcam, no usb ports. There had to be some sacrifices to achieve the iPad's sexy form factor.
- No multitasking. With such a large screen you would expect to be able to run multiple apps but no you can't.
- Not good for anything that requires Flash. A large part of the web's rich content is powered by Flash so this could be an issue for frequent web browsers.
- Battery is sealed in and non-replaceable. Memory is also sealed in and non-expandable. Get the picture?
