Mesh routers are without a doubt the best type of router advancement we’ve seen in many years! They allow you to have multiple access points all around your home and business, all under 1 single SSID (network name), so you’ll never have to switch to the closest Wi-Fi signal. With each node you place, they add an access point to your network, but rather than making its own network name that you’ll have to connect to, they’ll “add on” to your already existing mesh Wi-Fi signal and basically, expand your Wi-Fi range with each node.
Of course, this can also be achieved with multiple access points or range extenders, however, these do not work the same. Rather than having to physically connect your access point to your network, a mesh system will allow you to connect only 1 unit to your network, and the rest can be wireless, simply just by plugging them into power and adding them to your network. A range extender can also do the same, however, rather than duplicating your existing signal and have to connect to it, you’ll just have to roam around freely and you’ll automatically be connected to the best signal in the house, depending on where you are.
Mesh systems are also great for harder to penetrate surfaces with Wi-Fi. Once you have a series of nodes (as they usually come in 2-3 packs) you’ll be able to place them in various locations to get the best out of them and if needed, you can always add on more to the network if you need more range!
